The Yavapai Library Network has selected Tech Logic to provide Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and Automated Materials Handling (AMH) services for its members.  Implementing RFID and AMH will help to streamline library operations.  Increasing the efficiency of library operations is especially important when many Yavapai County libraries are operating with reduced funding and below normal staffing levels. 

The exclusive contract with Tech Logic was signed after an extensive evaluation of the library RFID marketplace.  A request for proposal (RFP) was made available to any vendor that was interested in the YLN's business.  All proposals were then evaluated based on such criteria as functionality, technical requirements, cost, services provided, vendor support, prior experience, corporate history and stability, and completeness of the response.

Tech Logic was found to have the highest marks overall.  Currently the Prescott Valley Public Library is implementing RFID in their new library scheduled to open in October.  They will be the first member of the YLN to implement RFID.  Along with RFID they have also purchased several self check units that will allow patrons to circulate items using the RFID technology.  Plans to implement RFID in other YLN libraries are currently in the works.  The YLN would be unable to move forward with RFID without the help of the Yavapai Free Library District.  Want to see what RFID is all about?  Head on over to the new Prescott Valley Public Library once it is completed in October 2009.
